It is hard to believe that Lehman Center is celebrating its 30th Anniversary Season! For three decades, we have presented an international array of artists and celebrities at very affordable ticket prices for you, your family and neighbors. Perhaps you are one of many who enjoyed performances by such celebrity artists as: New York Philharmonic (our 1980 Opening Gala), Sarah Vaughan, Miles Davis, Vienna Choir Boys, Isaac Stern, Carlos Montoya, Rudolf Nureyev, Victor Borge, Marcel Marceau, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, Celia Cruz and Tito Puente, Moiseyev Dance Company, Stars of the Kirov Ballet, Julio Iglesias, Ray Charles, and Debbie Reynolds, just to name a few. It is also hard to believe that this will be my 6th Season as the Executive Director of Lehman Center and the 25th for my colleague, Andrea Rockower, the Associate Director.
During the last six years we honored your frequent requests and brought many musical celebrities to the Bronx for the first time. Artists such as Patti LaBelle, Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, José Feliciano and B.B. King performed right here on the Concert Hall stage to standing ovations from the audience. We have also secured funding for a state-of-the-art sound system and new lighting which will debut in the coming season.
